Chandigarh, July 10: In a significant move towards universal healthcare, the Punjab Cabinet has approved a landmark scheme that offers cashless medical treatment of up to ₹10 lakh per family. The scheme will be available at both government hospitals and empanelled private hospitals across the state.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who chaired the Cabinet meeting, hailed the decision as a historic step. “With this initiative, Punjab becomes the first state to offer cashless treatment up to ₹10 lakh for every family,” he said.
A spokesperson from the Chief Minister's Office confirmed that the scheme, titled 'Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna', will officially be launched on October 2. The announcement to introduce this scheme was first made by CM Mann on July 8.
