Agartala, Aug 10: Ace Punjab batter Mandeep Singh will be playing for Tripura from the coming domestic season (2024-25). He made his India debut way back in 2016 and has played three T20Is.
Mandeep came into limelight after his splendid batting performance in the 2010 Under 19 World Cup. The same year, he made his debut for Punjab in the domestic cricket circuit.
His notable recent performance with the Punjab is, he led the side to their maiden Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title in 2023-24 domestic season.
What is likely to be his role for Tripura? Tripura would be expecting him to fill in the role left by seasoned keeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha. For the past two seasons Saha was with Tripura, before making a move back to Bengal.
But Mandeep will not be the only one Punjab player to appear for Tripuar in the coming season. Jiwanjot Singh, who represented Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh previously, has also been roped in by Tripura.
Besides, Tripura has also roped in PV Shashikanth as the Head Coach, who was recently with the Karnataka team.
Mandeep has been a constant performer in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has played for IPL franchises Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Kings XI Punjab (Punjab Kings).
Can he excel for Tripura an make a comeback into the Indian team? Well, that is what he would definitely be aiming at.
