Mumbai/Pune, February 27: Maharashtra Police have on Thrusday announced a ₹1 lakh reward for any information leading to the arrest of the history-sheeter accused of raping a 26-year-old woman inside a bus at Pune’s Swargate bus station.
As part of the ongoing manhunt, authorities have deployed drones to track down the suspect, officials confirmed on Thursday.
Amid intensified efforts to apprehend the accused, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut compared the crime to the 2012 Delhi gang rape and criticized Pune Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar over the state’s law and order situation.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde stated that the government would push for capital punishment for the perpetrator. Additionally, Shiv Sena MLA Nilesh Rane advocated for the revival of the “encounter squad” to deal with such criminals.
