Bhubaneswar, July 17:In a significant move to ensuring social security for the Panchayat Raj Institution (PRI) members, the Odisha government  announced the provision of death & disability assistance for them.

Odisha CM Mohan Charan informed it on Thursday.

A release issued by the CMO in this connection said, a financial assistance worth Rs 2,00000 will be accorded to a a standing PRI representative in case of his/her death while a sum of Rs 1,00000 will be granted as finacial assistance in case of disability.

This solidarity will be extended to the PRI members including a GP Ward Member to the Chairperson of a Zilla Parishad during their tenures, the release added.
