This new update brings key fixes and new customization options.

Apple has officially started rolling out the iOS 26.1 update, and it is now available for iPhone users across India. This is the first major update since iOS 26 launched in September, and it focuses on fixing common annoyances and adding new customization features.

If you have been frustrated by the new 'Liquid Glass' look, this update is for you. A new setting called the Liquid Glass Toggle has been added. You can now go to your Display settings and choose between "Clear" (the original transparent look) or "Tinted." The Tinted mode adds more opacity, making buttons and notifications much easier to read.

Perhaps the most welcome change is a fix for the lock screen. For years, users have complained about accidentally opening the camera by swiping left. The new iPhone update features a toggle in the Camera settings that lets you completely disable this gesture.

Apple has also changed how you turn off your alarms. Instead of just tapping 'Stop', you now get a "Slide to Stop" gesture. This is a small but smart change designed to make sure you are actually awake and deliberately turning off the alarm, rather than just tapping it by accident while half-asleep.

The update also brings improvements to Apple’s smart features. The Apple Intelligence update expands its understanding to new languages like Dutch, Turkish, and Vietnamese. Similarly, AirPods Live Translation now supports Japanese, Korean, and Chinese.

Other small but useful changes include a new gesture in Apple Music—you can now swipe the song title to skip tracks. Security has also been improved with a new automatic background update feature, ensuring your device gets security patches without you needing to do a full system update.

For iPhone users in Odisha and across India, knowing how to update your iPhone is simple. Go to Settings > General > Software Update. The iOS 26.1 update should be waiting for you to download and install.
