Bhubaneswar, February 4:  A Bhubaneswar Court has acquitted Kari Satti Babu (alias Satheesh Reddy), a 40-year-old from Visakhapatnam, in connection with the burglary at senior Congress leader Niranjan Patnaik’s house in January 2025.

The court, delivering its verdict on January 30, 2026, cited insufficient evidence and procedural errors, clearing Reddy of all charges. The accused, previously known as the "spider thief" for his swift entry methods, was released and his bail bond was canceled.

The burglary occurred on January 26, 2025, while Patnaik's family members were away. The thief entered through a second-floor window and stole gold, diamonds, and Rs. 2.5 lakh in cash, valued at Rs. 50 lakh.

Security discovered the break-in after hearing noises. Despite Reddy's confession during his arrest in Berhampur in February 2025, the court found the evidence insufficient to secure a conviction.
