Puri, Feb 12: Clusters of marine snails were spotted along Puri beach, while several dolphins were seen playing in the coastal waters, attracting the attention of locals and tourists. The unusual scenes led to speculation among some residents, who feared the occurrences might be an ominous sign.

Environmentalists, however, have dismissed such concerns, stating that the phenomenon is entirely natural and a regular feature of the region.

Former Honorary Wildlife Warden and environmentalist Akash Ranjan Rath said that the Puri coastline serves as a migration route for various marine species. “It is common to see dolphins in these waters. Similarly, marine snails often come ashore during their breeding season,” he explained.

He emphasized that there is no reason for panic, noting that similar sightings have been recorded in the past. Rath also urged the government to focus on conservation and research efforts, highlighting that Puri beach supports a rich diversity of marine life.
