Berhampur, July 29: A class VII student of a private school in Ganjam district suffered partial hearing loss after a teacher hit him near ear on Thursday.
The incident occurred at Sishu Mandir in Chikiti petho. The teacher lost his cool over some mischievous act of the boy during assembly and slapped him.
12-year-old Sagar Sahu’s father Titu said his son complained of severe pain in his ear upon reaching home and he took him to MKCG medical college and hospital the next day. After investigation, the attending doctor said that Sagar’s eardrum was damaged in the assault.
As his pain did not subside after treatment, he was taken to Visakhapatnam on Sunday.
Titu apprised the school’s headmaster Niranjan Bisoi of the matter but no police compliant has been lodged.
On the other hand, Ganjam district education officer Amita Patnaik said no body has complained in this regard.
