Cuttack, Dec 30: While a massive discontent is gaining ground across the state against the Tata Power over installation of smart meters and additional security deposits, a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed on Tuesday against the organization.

The petitioners claimed that the Discom violates the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) Act and the power supply norms laid down by the state.

The complaint demands the immediate withdrawal of the earlier notification issued by the company in this connection.

The case highlights growing concerns among residents about compliance, transparency, and accountability in electricity billing practices.

In the PIL the Energy Secretary, OERC, and TPCODL authorities have been made parties.

No comments have been received so far from the Tata Power authorities in this regard.
