Indian Men's Hockey Team dominates Asia with stellar 2025 wins

India’s national sport reached new heights this year as the Indian Men's Hockey Team officially reclaimed its status as the best side in Asia. The 2025 season was defined by a massive victory at the Asia Cup in Rajgir, Bihar, where the team secured the title after an eight-year wait. By defeating powerhouses like Korea, China, and Malaysia, Craig Fulton’s men proved they are once again the undisputed kings of the continent.

The journey began right here in Odisha. The home leg of the FIH Pro League at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar provided a perfect launchpad. Fans in Bhubaneswar witnessed the team win six out of eight matches against elite opponents like Germany, Spain, and England. This success was fueled by the revamped Hockey India League, which allowed fresh talent to showcase their skills alongside seasoned veterans.

While the team faced some challenges during the European leg of the Pro League, they quickly bounced back. A major highlight of the year was the performance of the India ‘A’ side at the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup. Even with stars like Harmanpreet Singh and Manpreet Singh rested, the development squad showed incredible depth by reaching the final and narrowly losing to Belgium.

Captain Harmanpreet Singh, who ended the year as the highest goal scorer, expressed immense pride in the team’s growth. He noted that the success of the development squad in Malaysia provides the team with great options for a packed 2026 schedule, which includes both the Asian Games and the World Cup.

From the roaring crowds in Odisha to the podium in Bihar, the Indian Men's Hockey Team has set a golden standard. With a balanced mix of experienced leaders and hungry youngsters, the squad is now perfectly positioned to take on the world stage in the coming year.
