Prime accused in Pattamundai student's death arrested in Chennai

Kendrapara, Aug 8: In a major development, police have arrested the prime suspect in the death of a 20-year-old Pattamundai college student. The accused, identified as Pramod Behera, was apprehended in Chennai and is being brought to Kendrapara for further investigation.

Behera, a resident of Teroi village in Kendrapara's Bilikana panchayat, was a male friend of the deceased. The victim, a final-year Plus-III student at Pattamundai College, died on August 6 after allegedly setting herself on fire.

According to the victim's father, his daughter had been under severe mental distress for months. He claims she was being continuously blackmailed by a young man who threatened to leak her private photos and videos. The family alleges the accused had been exploiting her for an extended period.

Following a complaint, police launched a manhunt and successfully tracked Pramod Behera to Chennai, where he was taken into custody. Authorities believe his arrest will provide critical information and help clarify the circumstances that led to the young woman's tragic death.
