​​​​​​Gajapati, Jan 7: A youth was apprehended in Mohana area of Odisha’s Gajapati district on Wednesday in connection with firing.

A pistol which was used in the crime, was also recovered from one of the accused persons.

Mastermind of the case is yet absconded, said police.

According to report, a village meeting in Odisha’s Gajapati district turned violent on Monday after a youth opened fire all of a sudden from his pistol.

He shot at another youth over previous enmity who sustained injuries in his foot.

The incident took place at at Dhepasahi village under the Mohana Police limit in the day.

According to sources, the village committee was resolving a dispute involving two families sitting on the village street. Meanwhile, one Santosh Pradhan of the Dhepasahi village opened fire all of a sudden. As a result, everyone, in the meeting scampered away whereas a youth identified as Anil Kumar Karad was hurt due to the gun shot, while he tried to save some minor boys, present on the spot.

He was rushed to the Mohana hospital for resuscitation and later to the MKCG Hospital & MC for better care.

On being informed, the police rushed to the spot, seized the pistol and arrested one accused.
