President Droupadi Murmu lays foundation for three new railway lines in Odisha

Bangriposi, Dec 7: President Droupadi Murmu on Saturday laid the foundation for three new railway lines on the last day of her Odisha visit.

She laid the foundation for Bangriposi-Gorumahisani, Buramara-Chakulia and Badampahar-Keonjhargarh railway lines in the presence of Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram, among others.

Speaking on the occasion, President Murmu said that she has always been proud to be a daughter of this land. Responsibilities and busy schedules have never distanced her from her birthplace and its people. Rather, the love of people keeps drawing her towards them.

She said that the motherland remains in her thoughts and work. The pure and deep affection of the people of this region always echoes in her mind.

President Murmu expressed confidence that rail projects and airport would boost transportation, commerce, and business in the region. The new hospital building with a 100-bed facility would provide better health facilities to the local people.

The three new railway lines are:

Bangiriposi-Gorumahisani line (86 km, ₹2,549 crore): This line will link Odisha with Jharkhand, improving interstate connectivity.

Buramara-Chakulia line (60 km, ₹1,639 crore): This will connect Odisha with the Howrah-Mumbai main railway line, boosting transport options for the region.

Badampahar-Kendujhargarh line (82 km, ₹2,107 crore): This line will connect Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj, two major districts in Odisha.

These railway projects, will improve transportation, boost trade, and help in the overall economic development of Odisha.
