New Delhi, February 5: Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that 172 railway stations have been redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The initiative focuses on improving station accessibility, integrating stations with city areas, and enhancing amenities like waiting halls, toilets, foot over bridges, escalators, lifts, and passenger information systems. The scheme also aims for better parking, multimodal integration, and eco-friendly solutions.

So far, 1,337 stations have been identified for redevelopment. In addition, 8,626 railway bridges have been repaired and strengthened between 2022 and 2025.

The government has implemented a robust inspection system for bridges and subways, ensuring safety and reducing waterlogging through improved drainage and pumps.
