Bhubaneswar, Oct 14: Preparations for Durga Puja are in full swing in the twin cities, and this year, the Durga Puja pandals are expected to draw a massive influx of devotees. Simultaneously, the Commissionerate police are gearing up to address the impending challenges.
Artisans are fervently engaged in crafting intricate gates for various puja pandals and sculpting idols of Durga. The Dussehra celebrations in the state capital are poised to be grander than ever, with a staggering 185 pandals slated to adorn the city.
Furthermore, all dilapidated roads will be swiftly repaired as a top priority, and malfunctioning streetlights will be promptly identified and rectified. Open drains will be covered before the puja, with the cooperation of stakeholders such as the BMC and R&B to ensure a timely completion of the task.
Similarly, the trimming of overgrown bushes and trees will be carried out before the festival. Officials have pledged to take measures to control dust in front of the pandals. Puja committees will enlist the assistance of volunteers for efficient festival management, while the police will deploy 'police mitras' at all pandals to monitor any anti-social activities.

Late-night safety concerns will be overseen by the Commissionerate Police, and the BMC will provide temporary toilet facilities for the larger pandals. Moreover, the ADUPHO will mobilize mobile health units for the pandals. TPCODL was tasked with addressing the issue of dangling wires. Additionally, the sanitation department was instructed to make two visits to puja mandaps for waste collection.
