Koraput, Feb 17: A CISF Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) went missing after allegedly drowning at Gulumi Waterfall under the jurisdiction of Kotpad Police Station in Koraput district. Despite extensive search efforts for over 24 hours, his whereabouts remain unknown.

According to reports, five friends had visited the waterfall for a picnic on Sunday when the incident occurred. One of them reportedly slipped into deep water and drowned. The missing officer has been identified as Akash Choudhary, an ASI posted at the NMDC Police Station in Nagarnaar, Chhattisgarh.

Teams from the Kotpad Fire Services and ODRAF immediately launched a search operation. Personnel from the Chhattisgarh NDRF and SDRF have also joined the rescue efforts. Kotpad police reached the spot and initiated an investigation.

The search and rescue operation was still underway at the time of filing this report.
