Bhubaneswar, Jan 1: The capital city of Odisha is set to host the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas from January 8 to 10, 2025, with a grand ceremony planned at Janata Maidan.
The event is expected to attract around 7,000 overseas guests, celebrating the achievements and contributions of the Indian diaspora.
So far, 2,748 guests have registered for the event. Notably, the President of Trinidad and Tobago, Christine Carla Kangaloo, will grace the occasion as the chief guest. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the much-anticipated ‘Pravasi Bharatiya Express’.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi recently reviewed the event’s preparations at the Lok Seva Bhavan, as arrangements have reached their final stages. To ensure a smooth and secure experience for the delegates, additional high-security forces, traffic controllers, and liaising officers have been deployed across the city.
Bhubaneswar has undergone extensive cleaning and sanitisation, with streets, office buildings, and landmarks adorned with vibrant lights to welcome the guests.
The event will feature a variety of cultural festivals, including Pathotsav, Ekamra Festival, and Adivasi Mela, showcasing Odisha’s rich art, music, and dance traditions. These performances will be telecast live, further promoting the state’s cultural heritage.
Guests will also have the opportunity to visit 31 tourist attractions across Odisha. A special pavilion at Janata Maidan will highlight the state’s historical and cultural legacy, providing an immersive experience for the attendees.
The event has drawn substantial media attention, with over 2,000 journalists, bloggers, and YouTubers from seven countries covering the celebrations. Awareness about the event has been amplified through social media campaigns, TV broadcasts, and advertisements in Odia, Hindi, and English.
With its meticulous planning and focus on showcasing Odisha’s heritage, the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2025 promises to be a remarkable celebration of India’s global diaspora.
