Karanjia, Sept 15: In a pre-Diwali crackdown, Karanjia police launched a surprise raid on an illegal firecracker manufacturing unit in Kurulia village, located under the Karanjia police jurisdiction in Mayurbhanj district. Three individuals were arrested in connection with the operation.

According to sources, a substantial quantity of firecrackers was seized during the raid.

The operation follows a major explosion that occurred on September 9 in Bhimada village, under the Barasahi Police Station, which caused significant damage and raised alarms over illegal firecracker manufacturing in the area. In response, Karanjia Police heightened their vigilance and began investigating the illegal factories.

Acting on a tip-off, the police carried out the surprise raid on three firecracker units in Kurulia village. During the operation, they confiscated a large amount of illegal firecracker materials. The three detained individuals are currently under questioning, and investigations are ongoing to identify others involved in the illicit activities.
