Bhubaneswar, October 26: Amid a spate of apartment thefts in the capital, the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police has urged Residents Welfare Associations (RWAs) to install IP-enabled CCTV cameras at apartment entry and exit points.
In a recent advisory, Police Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh recommended that these cameras connect to the police control room, enabling real-time communication to improve security.
In a video message, Commissioner Singh stated, “We have issued an advisory for apartment residents. All RWAs should install IP-enabled cameras at entry and exit points and link the feed to our control room. This two-way communication will enhance our response capabilities.”
The Commissioner also called for public cooperation with local police stations, reassuring residents of ongoing support.
"We believe the camera feeds and security guards will greatly aid in theft detection. Any information or suggestions can be shared on our WhatsApp number: 707779811," Singh added.
So far this year, police have made progress on apartment theft cases, arresting 29 individuals out of 65 reported thefts, thanks to closer engagement with the community on apartment security.
