Koraput, January 8:Vigilance sleuths on Monday apprehended an assistant sub-inspector of police for accepting bribe from a person to release his seized bike.
The anti-graft officials caught ASI, identitied as Anil Kumar Nayak of Jeypore Town police station in Koraput district for demanding Rs 5,000 bribe from the person.
Nayak demanded the bribe money from the complainant through a middleman. When Nazrul accepted the money, vigilance team caught him and seized the amount today.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Nayak from DA angle.
Koraput Vigilance has registered a case U/s-7PC (Amendment) Act, 2018. Investigation is in progress against both the accused persons, ASI Nayak and Md.Nazrul who was a negotiator in the deal.
