Bhubaneswar, Sept 12: The Punjab National Bank on Thursday settled a death claim of one of its valued borrowers paying the assured value worth Rs 81 Lakh to his family members with exemption of the debt relating to a house loan.
Rajesh Kumar, Regional Manager Bhubaneswar handed over the check to Sujata Khamari, spouse of the deceased borrower Jayant Khamari on a special occasion organized at the PNB Kalinga Asoka Branch, Bhubaneswar today.
According to the PNB officials, Jayant Khamari had availed a home loan worth Rs 90 lakh from the PNB, Kalinga Ashoka Branch in September 2023. In March 2024, the Home Loan was insured with the PNB MetLife Loan & Life Suraksha, a key policy under the PNB Metlife Insurance Scheme.Meanwhile, Khamari passed away in a tragic road mishap on June 12, 2024 all of a sudden while he was repaying his scheduled instalments to the PNB in time.
Following the fateful incident, the PNB authorities settled the sum assured, debited the remaining dues from it and paid Rs 81 lakh to Jayant’s next of kin.
While commiserating the bereaved family members and handing over the sum to the deceased borrower’s wife Jayanti, the Regional Manager PNB underlined the essence of the PNB MetLife Loan & Life Suraksha and PNB Metlife Insurance Scheme, that emerged a ray of hope for the distressed Khamari family.
Among other officials, Deputy Regional Manager Kshetrabasi Mishra, Head of Bhubaneswar Circle Laxmikanta Mishra and Deputy Circle Head Gurupada Pradhan and Branch Manager Sasank Sekhar Dash were present on the occasion.
