New Delhi, Oct 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday penned a letter to the citizens of the country on Deepavali, highlighting the successes of Operation Sindoor and the fight against Naxalism.

In the letter, the Prime Minister reflected India's recent achievements and urged citizens to continue building a stronger, united, and developed Bharat.

Calling Deepavali a festival of energy and enthusiasm, the Prime Minister noted that this year’s celebration is especially meaningful, coming in the wake of significant national milestones. “This is the second Deepavali after the grand construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya,” he wrote, adding that the values of Lord Ram—in upholding righteousness and fighting injustice—were clearly reflected during the recent Operation Sindoor.

“Bharat not only stood for justice but also gave a strong reply to injustice,” he said.

PM Modi also drew attention to the transformation of many regions previously affected by Naxalism and Maoist violence.

“This Deepavali is particularly special because, for the first time, lamps will be lit in many districts across the country, including remote areas. These are districts where Naxalism and Maoist terrorism have been eradicated at the root. In recent times, we have seen many individuals abandon the path of violence and join the mainstream of development, placing their faith in the Constitution of our country. This is a major achievement for the nation,” he added.

Turning to economic reforms, Modi celebrated the recent reduction in Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates as part of a broader push for next-generation reforms. He highlighted the 'GST Bachat Utsav', during which citizens are collectively saving thousands of crores of rupees.

“In the midst of global turmoil, Bharat stands out as a beacon of stability and sensitivity,” he said, adding that the country is well on track to becoming the world’s third-largest economy.

PM Modi also called for the adoption of Swadeshi products and a renewed sense of national pride.

“In a world going through multiple crises, Bharat has emerged as a symbol of both stability and sensitivity. We are also on track to become the third-largest economy in the world in the near future,” he said.
