Puri, Nov 13: In a shocking incident, the body of a minor boy was found in a water reservoir near Shree Setu in Puri. Preliminary reports indicate that the boy was allegedly murdered by unidentified miscreants, who later dumped his body in the water.

The deceased has been identified as Surjya Sahu, a resident of the Town police station area. According to sources, Surjya had gone out on Tuesday morning to buy breakfast but never returned home. When he failed to come back, his family launched a frantic search, but their efforts yielded no results.

Following the boy’s disappearance, the family lodged a written complaint with the Town police, prompting officers to register a case of abduction and begin an investigation. During the course of the probe, police recovered the boy’s body from the water reservoir.

Initial suspicions indicate that Surya may have been murdered and thrown into the water. The exact motive and those responsible for the crime are yet to be ascertained. Police have seized the body and sent it to a nearby hospital for post-mortem examination.

Meanwhile, the Town police have intensified their investigation to uncover the circumstances behind the gruesome murder.
