Bhubaneswar, January 7: Rice millers in Odisha have decided to end their protest after the state government addressed their demands. Mandi operations across the state are expected to return to normal from tomorrow, as confirmed by the State Rice Millers’ Association in a press briefing.

The millers were assured by the government that their demands would be met within 15 days. However, the association stated that if the commitments are not fulfilled by then, a fresh meeting will be called to determine the next course of action.

Additionally, the government has promised to clear pending dues within seven days. The millers expressed hope that the government will uphold its promises and resolve the issues promptly.

The millers’ association secretary also mentioned that a video conference with millers from 30 districts took place, during which the supply department and the Minister were praised for their swift action. With Makar Sankranti approaching, the association agreed to procure paddy for 15 days instead of seven.
