Bhubaneswar, January 1: Odisha Transport Authorities are going to utilize AI-based Geofencing Technology during Pollution Control certification, said Transport Commissioner Amitabh Thakur.

Based on some inputs regarding malpractices in procuring the PUCC from the Emission Test Centers, the state is all set to use smart technology to spot the parking of the vehicles at the centres, Thakur said.

With the smart technology, the Transport department seeks to ensure that vehicles undergo due physical inspections before certificates are issued. Under the upcoming GPS-based system, owners will have to produce their vehicles to the designated pollution testing centres.

Following physical verifications, the operators need to capture live videos and images on the website while processing the applications.

Worth mentioning, the PUCC version 2.0 will be integrated with the Vahan portal synchronizing with the approved Geofencing App to furnish the PUCC certificates with realtime landscape images of the vehicles at the test centres.
