Cuttack (Nischintakoili), October 17: The Odisha Government will establish 139 new Sub-Registrar offices in the State for registration of properties, said Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari on Friday.

“As many as 139 new Sub-Registrar offices will be set up in the State in order to expedite the registration of properties, streamline service delivery and provide convenience to the people,” said Pujari.

Pujari was speaking at a Government programme at Nischintakoili block of Cuttack district where he distributed nearly 2,000 land pattas (RoRs) to the villagers of three newly declared revenue villages - Urajanga, Patsura and Brajarajpatana under Nischintakoili tehsil.

“From the current financial year, the Nishchintkoili Tehsildar will be given the power of the Sub-Registrar on a temporary basis who will function at the Nishchintkoili Tehsil Office for registration of properties,” informed the Minister.

The Minister also laid foundation stones for new buildings for four Revenue Inspectors' offices under Mahanga and Nischintakoili tehsils in Cuttack district.

Mahanga MLA Sarada Pradhan and Cuttack Sadar MLA Prakash Sethy also attended the event.

The Sub-Registrar offices of the Revenue Department are responsible for the registration of properties bought and sold, deeds and gifts involving substantial amounts. The stamp duty charged for documentation is a major source of revenue for the State Government.
