New Delhi, Aug 22: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to meet with his Polish counterpart, Donald Tusk, on Thursday during a bilateral meeting in Warsaw. He will also meet with Poland's President Andrzej Duda and later engage with business leaders to discuss potential collaborations.
In addition to his official meetings, Prime Minister Modi will interact with Indologists and kabaddi players, aiming to explore and strengthen the cultural ties between India and Poland, according to Randhir Jaiswal, Spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
Prime Minister Modi arrived in Warsaw on Wednesday, marking the first visit by an Indian leader to Poland in 45 years. On his arrival, he paid tributes at The Dobry Maharaja Memorial, Kolhapur Memorial, and the Monument to the Battle of Monte Cassino. He also addressed the Indian community in Warsaw.
Following his two-day visit to Poland, Prime Minister Modi will travel to Ukraine. This visit will be historic as it is the first by an Indian Prime Minister since the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Ukraine in 1992.
"From Poland, I will be visiting Ukraine at the invitation of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This is the first-ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Ukraine. I look forward to building upon earlier conversations with President Zelenskyy on strengthening bilateral cooperation and sharing perspectives on the peaceful resolution of the ongoing Ukraine conflict. As a friend and partner, we hope for an early return of peace and stability in the region," Prime Minister Modi said in a statement released by the MEA.
During his time in Kyiv, Prime Minister Modi's engagements will cover various aspects of bilateral relations, including political, trade, economic, investments, education, cultural exchanges, and humanitarian assistance. He will also meet with the Indian community, including students, to discuss their concerns and experiences. This landmark visit is expected to further solidify and expand the ties between India and Ukraine.
