Industrialist son remanded after high speed luxury car accident.

Police officials have taken decisive action in the high-profile Kanpur Lamborghini crash, arresting Shivam Mishra, the son of renowned tobacco industrialist KK Mishra. The arrest on Thursday marks a significant turn in the investigation into the reckless accident on VIP Road that left six people injured and multiple vehicles mangled.

Events unfolded rapidly after the February 8 incident, where a Lamborghini Revuelto—an Italian supercar valued at over Rs 10 crore—lost control and rammed into pedestrians before mounting a divider. While initial reports were filed against an unidentified driver, 35-year-old Shivam was later named as the primary accused. He has since been presented before a local court and sent to police remand for allegedly not cooperating with the investigation.

High drama preceded the arrest when a man named Mohan appeared in court, claiming he was the one behind the wheel. Mohan alleged that Shivam, who was sitting in the passenger seat, suffered a sudden seizure and collapsed on him, causing the vehicle to swerve. However, the court rejected Mohan’s surrender application after police refused to name him as an accused in their report.

Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal stated that the evidence squarely contradicts the driver-swap theory. Technical surveillance and CCTV footage reportedly confirm that Shivam was driving the luxury vehicle when the accident occurred. Furthermore, eyewitnesses and viral videos show bystanders pulling a man, identified as Shivam, from the driver's seat immediately after the impact.

Defense lawyers are currently arguing that Shivam suffers from epilepsy and was being treated in Delhi. They also claimed that a mutual settlement had been reached with the complainant, e-rickshaw driver Mohd Taufeeq. Despite these claims and the "technical snag" defense offered by Shivam’s father, authorities are proceeding based on visual evidence placing the industrialist's son in the driver’s seat during the Kanpur Lamborghini crash.
