New Delhi, Sept 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s planned visit to Pune on Thursday has been cancelled due to heavy rainfall in the city.
He was scheduled to visit the city ahead of the Maharashtra assembly elections and set to inaugurate, dedicate and lay the foundation stones for several projects worth Rs 22,600 crore, including the inauguration of Solapur Airport.
Besides, the PM was also scheduled to flag off the Metro service from the Pune District Court Metro Station, running between District Court and Swargate.
Several regions in Maharashtra experienced heavy waterlogging due to intense rainfall, disrupting train, bus, and flight operations in Mumbai and Pune.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall warning for several areas in the state. The city administration declared a holiday for all schools and colleges in Mumbai based on the IMD forecast.
