New Delhi, May 23: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to chair a high-level meeting with Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers from BJP-led NDA-ruled states on May 25. The meeting, scheduled to take place at the Ashoka Hotel in the national capital, will focus on recent developments in national security, according to sources.
The timing of the meeting is significant, coming just days after India launched "Operation Sindoor," a series of military strikes targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
Sources indicate the meeting will be held between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and aims to brief key state leaders on the military operation and India’s broader security posture.
"A meeting has been convened to update leaders on India’s recent counter-terror operation, Operation Sindoor, and the status of hostilities," a source told ANI.
"All Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers from NDA-ruled states have been invited. This initiative will underscore a unified national stance on security matters."
The gathering is seen as a strategic move to reinforce the NDA government's message on national security and demonstrate political unity following the cross-border military action.
Meanwhile, JD(U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, who is leading a multi-party delegation to Japan and other East Asian nations as part of India’s global anti-terrorism outreach, reported positive support from Japanese lawmakers.
Speaking to ANI, Jha said, “We met several Japanese parliamentarians today, and they expressed strong backing for India’s efforts against terrorism. We even shared photographs showing Pakistani generals attending the funerals of terrorists.”
Jha criticized Pakistan for what he described as its "exposed victim narrative" and state-sponsored terrorism. “We also informed them about the Pakistani Army chief’s recent comments on the two-nation theory, which many were unaware of,” he added.
The Indian delegation also held discussions with prominent Japanese leaders, including former Defence Minister Minoru Kihara and Shinako Tsuchiya, Director General of the International Bureau of Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). During the meetings, Indian MPs reaffirmed the country’s firm commitment to combating terrorism in all forms.
