Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh), May 2: Prime Minister Modi today inaugurated, laid the foundation stone for, and dedicated several development projects in Andhra Pradesh’s Amaravati, worth over Rs 58,000 crore.
PM Modi inaugurated seven National Highway projects in Andhra Pradesh, which involve widening key highway sections and constructing road overbridges, subways, and more.
These projects aim to improve road safety, generate employment, and ensure smooth connectivity to major religious and tourist destinations such as Tirupati, Srikalahasti, Malakonda, and Udayagiri Fort.
He also dedicated key railway projects focused on improving connectivity and increasing capacity. These include the doubling of the rail line between Bugganapalle Cement Nagar and Panyam stations, strengthening the link between Rayalaseema and Amaravati, as well as the construction of a third rail line between New West Block Hut Cabin and Vijayawada stations.
The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for infrastructure projects valued at over Rs 11,240 crore, which include the construction of the Legislative Assembly, High Court, Secretariat, various administrative buildings, and housing for more than 5,200 families.
The projects also encompass trunk infrastructure and flood mitigation initiatives, including a 320 km world-class transport network with integrated underground utilities and advanced flood management systems, valued at over Rs 17,400 crore.
PM Modi also laid the foundation stone for six National Highway projects and one Railway project. These initiatives include the widening of key highway sections, construction of elevated corridors, a half cloverleaf interchange, and a road overbridge, among other developments.
These projects are expected to enhance connectivity, facilitate smoother interstate travel, reduce traffic congestion, and improve overall logistics efficiency. The construction of a Rail-over-Rail structure between Guntakal West and Mallappa Gate stations is specifically designed to divert freight trains and ease congestion at Guntakal Junction.
The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for a Missile Test Range at Nagayalanka in Andhra Pradesh, with an estimated cost of around Rs 1,460 crore. The facility will include a launch center, advanced technical instrumentation, indigenous radars, telemetry, and electro-optical systems, significantly strengthening the nation's defence capabilities.
PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the PM Ekta Mall in Madhurawada, Visakhapatnam. The mall is envisioned to promote national integration, support the Make in India initiative, advance the One District One Product scheme, create employment opportunities, empower rural artisans, and boost the market reach of indigenous products.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu welcomed and felicitated Prime Minister Modi at the event where the PM laid the foundation stone and dedicated several projects to the nation for the development of Amaravati’s capital city. These projects span key sectors including roads, defence, railways, and industrial infrastructure.
