Bhubaneswar: India’s para badminton icon Pramod Bhagat once again etched his name in the history books with a sensational double gold performance at the BWF Para Badminton World Championships 2026 in Bahrain, headlined by a record-breaking sixth World Championship gold medal in Men’s Singles SL3.

Odisha’s pride produced a commanding performance in the Men’s Singles final, defeating Indonesia’s Muhammad Al Imran 21–12, 21–18 to clinch his sixth world title. With this victory, Pramod secured his fourth consecutive World Championship crown, underlining his unmatched dominance in the SL3 category over the past decade.

With six Men’s Singles gold medals in the year 2009, 2015, 2019, 2022, 2024 and 2026, Pramod Bhagat now surpasses Lin Dan’s tally of five World Championship gold medals in men’s singles, marking a monumental milestone in world badminton history. Reflecting on his historic achievement, Pramod Bhagat said, “Winning my sixth World Championship gold and fourth consecutive title is an incredibly emotional moment for me. Lin Dan has always been my idol, and to surpass his record is truly special. Each medal represents years of sacrifice, discipline and belief. Representing India on the biggest stage and continuing to make history for my country gives me immense pride and motivation.”

Pramod’s golden campaign did not end with singles glory. He went on to clinch the Men’s Doubles SL3–SL4 gold medal alongside Sukant Kadam, defeating fellow Indians Jagadesh Dilli and Naveen Sivakumar 21–19, 21–16 in a high-intensity final.

From becoming a world champion in 2009 to rewriting global records in 2026, Pramod Bhagat’s journey continues to inspire millions across India and beyond. With six singles world titles, four in succession, and a doubles crown at Bahrain 2026, he has once again proven why he remains the face of Indian para badminton on the world stage.
