New Delhi, June 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday wished Congress leader Rahul Gandhi a happy birthday as he turned 55.
Taking to his official ‘X’ handle, PM Modi wished Gandhi a long and healthy life and wrote, “Birthday greetings to the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Shri Rahul Gandhi. May he be blessed with a long and healthy life.”
Kharge praised Gandhi’s unequivocal dedication to the Constitution's values and said his actions consistently reflect the Congress party's ideology of unity in diversity, harmony, and compassion.
Taking to his official ‘X’ handle, “What sets you apart is your unequivocal dedication to the Constitution's values and your deep compassion for social, political and economic justice for the millions whose voices often go unheard.”
“Your actions consistently reflect the Congress party's ideology of unity in diversity, harmony, and compassion. As you continue your mission to bring truth to power and support the last person standing, I wish you a long, healthy, and happy life ahead,” he added.
Several Union Ministers, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, also shared their birthday greetings on social media.
Rajnath Singh wrote, "Greetings to the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Shri Rahul Gandhi on his birthday. May he be blessed with good health and a long life," on his ‘X’ handle.
Similarly, Nitin Gadkari wrote, "Extending my heartfelt birthday wishes to the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha and Lok Sabha MP from Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh Shri Rahul Gandhi ji. May this occasion bring joy, and the year ahead be filled with health and prosperity."
In remembrance of his birthday, the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) is hosting a massive job fair at the Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi.
The fair is expected to host over 100 companies and multinational corporations and more than 5,000 job openings in a number of sectors and industries.
The IYC said the intention was to provide young job seekers with direct interaction with employers, resulting in employed citizens.
Notably, Gandhi was born on June 19, 1970, in Holy Family Hospital, Delhi, the first child of outgoing Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and Congress Rajya Sabha MP Sonia Gandhi.
Rahul Gandhi's political ancestry reaches back to India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. He is the grandson of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and son of Rajiv Gandhi, who was the sixth Prime minister of India. His paternal grandfather, Feroze Gandhi, was a native of Gujarat and belongs to the Parsi community.
