Bhubaneswar: Odisha sprinter Pratik Maharana bagged a bronze medal in the 200m race and he also won another silver medal in the 4X100 relay events of the 4th South Asian Sr Athletics Championships at the Birsa Munda Athletics Stadium in Ranchi, Jharkhand from 24 to 26 October 2025. Another Odisha long jumper Sarun Payasing claimed a bronze medal.

Bargarh sprinter Pratik was part of the Indian men’s 4x100m relay team that secured the silver medal with a time of 40.65 seconds on October 25. Other three members were J Singh Dhillon, Harsh Raut and Pranav Gurav of the Indian relay team.

In 40th National Junior Athletics meet at Bhubaneswar, gold medallist Pratik claimed his second medal of the SAAF with a bronze in men's 200m run clocking 21.44 seconds. Last year, Pratik won one silver medal each in 200m and 4x100m relay at the 4th South Asian Junior Athletics Championship in Chennai.

A disciple of coach Siba Prasad Mishra, Pratik has also qualified for the World Athletics U-20 Championship to be held in Eugene, USA next year.

Sarun bagged the bronze medal in men's long jump with an effort of 7.52 metres. This was the first international medal for Sarun, who hails from Kalahandi district.
