Bhubaneswar, June 20: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Bhubaneswar today to a grand welcome at the Biju Patnaik International Airport here. His visit marks the first anniversary of the BJP-led government in Odisha.
Following his arrival, the Prime Minister led a vibrant roadshow from the airport to Janata Maidan, where he is scheduled to address a massive public gathering. The event will also witness the inauguration and foundation-laying of development projects worth over ₹18,600 crore.
These initiatives span key sectors such as drinking water supply, irrigation, agriculture infrastructure, healthcare, rural connectivity through roads and bridges, national highway expansion, and railway development.
A landmark announcement of the day includes the extension of railway services to Boudh district—integrating it with the national rail network for the first time. The Prime Minister will flag off new train services to mark this historic development.
In a significant push for clean energy and sustainable urban transport, PM Modi will also launch 100 electric buses under the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) initiative, aimed at building an eco-friendly public mobility system.
Further outlining Odisha’s long-term development trajectory, the Prime Minister will release the Odisha Vision Document, a strategic roadmap looking ahead to 2036 (when Odisha marks 100 years as India’s first linguistic state) and 2047 (India’s centenary of independence). The vision emphasizes inclusive and future-ready growth across sectors.
Highlighting Odisha's rich cultural heritage, PM Modi will launch the ‘Baraputra Aitihya Gram Yojana’, an initiative dedicated to honoring eminent Odias by developing their birthplaces into cultural hubs featuring museums, libraries, statues, and interpretation centers—aimed at boosting cultural tourism and preserving history.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will felicitate women achievers from across the state, celebrating the success of more than 16.5 lakh Lakhpati Didis, who represent a growing movement of self-reliant and economically empowered women in Odisha.
