New Delhi, Aug 15: In his 11th consecutive Independence Day address from the Red Fort, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the 140 crore citizens of India are filled with pride today.
"This is the same country that once faced terrorist attacks," Modi noted. "Now, when our armed forces carry out surgical strikes or airstrikes, our youth swell with pride. That’s why every Indian is proud today."
The Prime Minister emphasized the nation's rapid progress, stating, "Our youth does not want to move slowly; we are living in a golden era." He highlighted how citizens’ access to amenities has improved significantly: "Previously, people had to plead with the government for services. Now, these services are delivered right to their doorsteps."
Modi expressed confidence in India’s future, saying, "By overcoming all obstacles, we can achieve our goal of 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047. If 40 crore people could break the chains of slavery for freedom, then 140 crore people can make India prosperous with the same spirit."
He also addressed the success of the 'Vocal for Local' initiative: "We introduced the 'Vocal for Local' mantra, and I am pleased to see it becoming a cornerstone of our economic strategy. Every district now takes pride in its local produce, and the 'One District One Product' approach is thriving."
The Prime Minister assured that his commitment to reform is genuine: "We have implemented significant reforms to improve the lives of the poor, middle class, and deprived. Our dedication to these reforms is not driven by the need for praise or editorial attention, but by a genuine desire to strengthen the country."
Concluding, Modi reaffirmed his commitment to continuous reform: "Our resolve to bring about change is steadfast. Earlier, people’s aspirations for change were ignored; we have now made substantial reforms to address these needs and advance our nation."
