New Delhi, December 11: Union Home Minister Amit Shah attended a prayer meet for the late actor Dharmendra on December 11 at the Ambedkar International Centre in Delhi, where he paid floral tribute. BJP leaders, including JP Nadda, Nirmala Sitharaman, Rekha Gupta, Anurag Thakur, Kiren Rijiju, and Ashwini Vaishnaw, were also present, offering condolences to Dharmendra’s wife, Hema Malini.
Dharmendra, who passed away on November 24, was remembered for his iconic roles in films like Sholay, Chupke Chupke, and Aya Sawan Jhoom Ke. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rajinikanth also paid tribute, with Modi describing him as an actor who brought charm and depth to every role. Rajinikanth called him a "friend" with a "golden heart."
Dharmendra’s later work included notable roles in Life in a... MetroandApne, both of which were critically successful. In 2023, he impressed audiences with his performance in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani, especially with his tender kiss scene with Shabana Azmi. He was also a former MP, judge on India’s Got Talent, and appeared in Taj: Divided by Blood. His last film, Ikkis, is set to release on December 25.
