The initiative, which became operational on Sunday, is staffed by six specially trained female constables and is aimed at offering immediate assistance, addressing grievances, and guiding women facing any kind of distress.

Superintendent of Police, Vinit Agrawal, emphasised that while instances of harassment are minimal, the move is a proactive measure in response to the increasing footfall of female devotees. “This step has been taken to ensure a secure, inclusive, and respectful spiritual journey for women visiting the temple,” said Agrawal.

The Pink Help Desk will work in tandem with local patrol units and gather feedback from visitors to help refine and improve the pilgrimage experience.

It embodies a people-centric approach to policing prioritising swift action, professionalism, and accountability.

The initiative is part of wider developmental efforts at the temple complex, reaffirming Puri’s commitment to creating a safer and more welcoming environment for all devotees, particularly women.
