Balasore, Aug 19: Well-known photo collector from Balasore, Sarbeswar Das (70), has urged for the conservation of his rare collections.

I have over 35,000 rare collections from various fields including literature, culture, art, science, sports, history, tourism, and independence era, said Das of Inchudi village under Remuna block in the district.

I have been collecting photos for the last 51 years and the rare collections need conservation. I have been praised and awarded by many organizations for my collection. Despite my frequent request to the district administration and state government, nobody showing interest, he added.

There are 10,000 rare photos from history, 5,000 from science, and 8,000 from tourism and mythology in his collection.

Das has been collecting photos since 1972 when he was a Class - IX student.

One acre of government land has been identified in Inchudi for the construction of a photo museum. If the district administration facilitates for setting up of a museum, the rare collections can be conserved, said Das.
