New Delhi, December 24: Ahead of the 77th Republic Day celebrations on January 26, 2026, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has approved the deployment of 53 additional Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) companies to strengthen security in Delhi. Comprising over 5,800 personnel, these forces will supplement the Delhi Police's efforts in maintaining law and order.

The additional personnel will be stationed at key locations within a 2-kilometer radius of Kartavya Path, the site of the annual Republic Day parade. Forces from the BSF, CRPF, ITBP, CISF, and SSB will support security at critical sites. National Security Guard (NSG) teams, including snipers, will be deployed at sensitive locations.

This heightened security comes amid a diplomatic gesture, as European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Antonio Costa will be the chief guests at the parade. The deployment also responds to elevated threats following the November 10 bomb blast near the Red Fort.

Authorities have intensified precautionary measures and set up a multi-layered security framework to ensure a smooth and safe Republic Day celebration.
