PCR van in-charge suspended for not protecting victim from attack

Bhubaneswar, Jan15: A PCR van in-charge has been suspended for negligence during duty, said Commissionerate Police (CP) on Wednesday. The official did not protect a youth who was attacked by a group of miscreants in presence of him yesterday in Laxmi Sagar area. According to police, the victim, Parbinder Pal Singh, asked occupants of a car to move the vehicle aside for convenience of vehicular movement that was parked in front of an apartment causing traffic jam. But, they did not respond to his request following which Singh dialed 100 and informed police about the matter. After a PCR van reached the spot, he apprised the police personnel about the incident. Irate over this, the car occupants attacked Singh in presence of the cops, who did not intervene to protect the victim. Later, a complaint was filed at Laxmi Sagar police station and two persons, identified as Sankar Rout and Deepak Mohanty, were arrested in this connection.
