Paris, Aug 6: India's javelin thrower Kishore Kumar Jena, who hails from Odisha, finished ninth in the Group A qualifying rounds of Paris Olympics 2024 on Tuesday.
His best throw in the qualifying rounds was 80.73 metres.
Kishore failed to seal a spot in the final as there were already four automatic qualifiers ahead of him.
The other Indian Neeraj Chopra, who won the javelin Gold medal in Tokyo Olympics was placed in Group B. However, Neeraj entering the final was almost a certainty.
On Day 11 of Paris Games 2024, Kishore made his debut in the Olympics. Since Kishore had won a Silver medal in the Asian Games, so there were expectations that he may excel in Paris Games .
Kishore's best throw of 80.73 metres in Paris Games was far less than his personal best. Earlier, on October 4 last year, Kishore won the Silver medal at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, achieving a personal record throw of 87.54 meters.
