Paris, Aug 3: India men's hockey team will meet Great Britain in the first Quarterfinal of Pars Olympics 2024 on August 4 (Sunday).
All the four quarterfinals have been scheduled to be played on Sunday. Apart from India and Great Britain, the other six teams to have entered the quarterfinals are - Belgium, Spain, The Netherlands, Australia, Germany and Argentina.
The second quarter final will be played between Tokyo Olympics Gold medal winning team Belgium and Spain.
The third match will be between the Netherlands and Australia. Similarly, the final quarterfinal will see Germany and Argentina lock horns for a semifinal berth.
The two semifinals will be played on August 6 (Tuesday). The match for the Bronze medal or the third place will be held on August 8 (Thursday). The same day the final too will be played.
Harmanpreet Singh led India are two matches away from a medal finish.
In Tokyo Olympics, after 41 years of Olympic medal drought in hockey, Manpreet Singh led India won a Bronze medal.
Manpreet Singh, present skipper Harmanpreet Singh and seasoned goalkeeper PR Sreejesh are vital cogs of the Indian men's hockey team in Paris Olympics 2024.
Sreejesh have already announced that his long international career will come to an end with Paris Olympics 2024.
Sreejesh was instrumental in India's Bronze medal finish in Tokyo. Evidently, his teammates would be keen to see him retire with an Olympic medal again.
