Paris, Aug 7: After Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat was disqualified prior to her Gold medal fight in the women's 50-kg freestyle wrestling on Wednesday, the grappler she defeated in the semifinal Cuba's Yusneylis Guzman Lopez was named as her replacement for the final.
The Cuban will fight USA's Sarah Hildebrandt at the Paris Olympics in the title fight later Wednesday. The replacement came after Vinesh was disqualified to participate in the final after missing the weigh cut on the morning of the medal bout. Vinesh missed the mark by a little over 100 grams during the weigh-in, reports stated.
It can be recalled that Vinesh had defeated Guzman 5-0 in the semifinal to assure India of at least a silver medal in the competition. Guzman was scheduled to take on Mongolia's Dolgorjavyn Otgonjargal in the Bronze medal match. She has been replaced with China's Feng Ziqi, it was stated.
