Bhubaneswar, Jan 27: A couple has allegedly left their 22-day infant abandoned in Capital Hospital Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
The Capital Hospital has initiated a probe in this connection, finding the ailing infant alone in the Special Newborn Care Unit(SNCU).
Sources said, the infant was admitted to the hospital 4-5 days ago by a couple from the Daspalla area in Odisha’s Nayagarh district. However, the parents left the medical bed all of a sudden today.
On being informed, the SNCU crew members reported it to the Hospital authorities. Subsequently, a frantic search was initiated to trace the attendants of the baby but in vain.
Following this, the Medical Superintendent has verified the patient’s history from the admission records and found that the father of the abandoned baby is Prasant Kumar Nayak.
The whereabouts of the parents who were attending the baby is yet to be ascertained and the reason behind their mysterious vanish from the hospital is also a question, said Dr Lingaraj Pradhan, who is treating the infant.
