
Bhubaneswar, Ap 24: On the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day today, the Odisha government will distribute ration cards and 'Subhadra' financial assistance to new beneficiaries across the state.
A state-level ceremony will be held in Puri and will be attended by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, along with several cabinet ministers including Deputy Chief Ministers Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik, Minister of Literature, Culture and Sports Suryabanshi Suraj, and Food Supplies Minister Krushna Chandra Patra.
The event will be broadcast live on all leading television channels to ensure broader public participation and engagement.
On a national level, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will join a function at Lohana Uttar Gram Panchayat in Madhubani district of Bihar. He is expected to address gram sabhas and will inaugurate Rs 13,500 crore Vibhav Bhoomi project.
On this occasion, the National Panchayati Raj Awards 2025 will be presented in a special segment. Odisha has been selected for awards in two categories.
For the first time, 24th April will now officially be celebrated as National Panchayati Raj Day.
Moreover, beneficiaries who applied for Subhadra assistance by 31st March will receive aid today.
Furthermore, from the list of long-pending ration card applicants, 5.9 lakh eligible individuals have been identified and will be issued new colour-coded ration cards.
