Islamabad, May 14: Despite a ceasefire agreement and a DGMO-level settlement between India and Pakistan on Monday, Pakistan expelled an Official of Indian High Commission based in Islamabad, to leave the estate within a 24-hour time.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also said that the concerned official has been directed to leave Pakistan within 24 hours.
As a retaliatory approach over the expulsion of a Pakistani staffer worked in the Pakistan High Commission Office in Delhi, a while ago, the Indian official was given ultimatum to leave for India.
Pakistan on Tuesday declared the staff member of the Indian High Commission "persona non grata" alleging "incompatible” engagement.
It added that the Indian Charge d'Affaires was called to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday for a démarche, conveying this decision.
Earlier, India had expelled the Pakistani official leveling espionage charges on him.
The move comes amid tensions between the two neighbours following a four-day military confrontation.
