Bhubaneswar, Mar 20: In celebration of Pakhala Parba, a grand event has been organized at a guest house. For the first time ever, an attempt will be made to set a world record by preparing 800-850kg of Pakhala in a single vessel. Alongwith, 365 varieties of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes will be prepared for the occasion. This effort is part of the Tourism Department’s initiative to promote Odisha's rich cultural heritage globally.
Chef Abinash will lead the event, showcasing a wide variety of Pakhala, including different regional rice varieties such as Handi Rice, Kala Rice, Nali Rice, and Pusa Rice. Around 30 distinct varieties of Pakhala will be served, including popular options like Dahi Pakhala, Chipuda Pakhala, Lemon Pakhala, Chunka Pakhala, and Basi Pakhala-all in one place.
Additionally, international fusion-style Pakhala will be offered, such as Lemon Tree Pakhala, Assam-Odisha Pakhala, Minto Fresh Pakhala, and Orange-Mandarin Pakhala. This fusion mix is aimed at bringing Odisha's traditional dish to a global stage.
The event will take place across four hotels with live food counters. The Odia community living abroad will also be virtually connected, ensuring that Pakhala Parba is a global affair. Everyone will join together in celebrating the Pakhala Day.
