Medical Aspirants Alert: NTA Begins NEET UG 2026 Registration
The wait is finally over for thousands of medical aspirants across Odisha and India. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially opened the online application window for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2026. Students aiming for admission into MBBS, BDS, and other undergraduate medical courses can now submit their forms via the official portal, neet.nta.nic.in.
This year's entrance examination is scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 3, 2026. It will be conducted in the traditional pen-and-paper mode. Candidates are advised to complete their registration well before the deadline of March 8, 2026, to avoid any last-minute server issues.
Key Dates to Remember
Eligibility Criteria: No Upper Age Limit
The NTA has clarified the eligibility norms for this session. Candidates must have completed 17 years of age on or before December 31, 2026. There is no upper age limit for appearing in the exam, offering a fair chance to all deserving candidates.
Academically, applicants must have passed their Class 12 (or equivalent) examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English.
Exam Pattern and Language Options
The NEET UG 2026 paper will carry a total of 720 marks and consist of 180 multiple-choice questions. The sections include Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany & Zoology). For every correct answer, students will be awarded +4 marks, while -1 mark will be deducted for incorrect responses.
Importantly for local students, the exam will be conducted in 13 languages, including Odia. This allows candidates from Odisha to attempt the paper in their mother tongue if they prefer.
