Puri, Nov 25: The public darshan of deities at Puri Jagannath temple will remain suspended for four hours in the evening today for secret ‘Paita Lagi’ rituals.
According to sources, these rituals will be conducted by the servitors at the second Bhoga Mandap of the temple from 5 pm to 9 pm.
During the 'Paita Lagi' ritual, the servitors will clothe the deities' bodies with a special silk cloth known as 'Basunga Patta'. Following this, sandalwood paste will be gently applied to the cloth as part of the intricate ceremony.
The suspension of public darshan during this period underscores the reverence and meticulousness with which such rituals are observed at the Sri Jagannath Temple. Devotees are advised to plan their visits accordingly and respect the sanctity of the ongoing ceremonies.
