Bhubaneswar, Oct 29:Prohibitory orders under Section 144 have been clamped so far in Padmakesharipur village under the Mancheswar police limit in Bhubaneswar to restore peace in the locality.
Security cover in and around the village has also been beefed up anticipating further untoward situations, said DCP , Prateek Singh on Sunday.
Sources said Padmakesharipur village on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar city turned into a battlefield on Friday following people of two wards faced off over some past issues. During the group clash at least 20 persons were hospitalized as both the groups attacked each other with lathi and stones.
Being informed, armed police forces were soon mobilized to the spot and Section 144 was clamped in the area in order to control the situation. Meanwhile, at least 77 offenders were held in connection with the clash.
Armed police forces have been deployed in the village. Further raids are underway to pick a number of miscreants who were behind the violence, said the DCP.
